A Comparative Study Between the Old Man and the Sea and Robinson Crusoe
Abstract: The Old Man and the Sea was created from a true story by Ernest Hemingway. Through the struggle between the old man and nature, we can see a tough guy who can be destroyed but can’t be defeated. Robinson Crusoe is a legendary person created by Daniel Defoe., who overcame the adversity with his tenacious mettle and strong willpower. This paper compares the similarities and differences of the environment and character in these two novels, and analyzes reasons that bring about these similarities and differences. This paper intends to help readers to better understand the two great literary works.
