On the Writing Style of Edgar Allan Poe’s Short Stories
Abstract: Edgar Allan Poe was an American poet, novelist and literary critic in the nineteenth century, and was honored as “the father of detective stories”. This paper starts from these short stories, such as The Black Cat, The Pit and the Pendulum, The Fall of the House of Usher, and so on, to disclose Poe’s contribution to literature, by analyzing the setting, narration, characterization and plot in Poe’s short stories.
