摘 要 将多媒体技术应用于地理信息系统中的关键问题是：如何有效地管理多媒体数据和空间数据；其次，在区域分析过程中，怎样实现多媒体播放功能.指出用扩充的关系数据模型作为多媒体数据模型较适宜；多媒体功能的实现则取决于多媒体数据的格式是否为RIFF格式以及对多媒体数据的应用要求.最后展示了多媒体技术在地理信息系统中的应用前景.
